KILIMANJARO ROUTE
Kilimanjaro’s longest, most expansive route.
Begin in the west, circle the mountain’s remote northern slopes and take time to experience Kilimanjaro from every angle.

The Northern Circuit begins from the western side and then curves around Kilimanjaro’s quiet northern flank. It is the longest commonly offered route and reveals an unusually broad range of scenery.
More days can create a measured rhythm and additional acclimatization opportunities, but altitude risk remains. The distance and repeated trekking days require endurance and careful preparation.
Spend more time moving through Kilimanjaro’s changing landscapes.
Experience quieter country beyond the main southern trail network.
See the mountain from west, north and east as the route circles toward Kibo.
The longer outline can support acclimatization, though no schedule guarantees it.

A summit attempt usually means an early start in darkness, very cold temperatures and a slow, steady ascent. The aim is Uhuru Peak, with sunrise a memorable part of the high-mountain experience when conditions allow.
Reaching the top is never guaranteed. Guides assess conditions and your ability along the way; turning around may be the right decision. A long descent follows any summit attempt.
